Do not agree on the XSR being a retro. What part of the bike looks retro...? Headlight, Gas Tank, Engine, seat, shape, riding position...? None. It could be the best performing, more capable bike, but it ain't no retro at all. On contrast, both the Triumph and Z900 are beautifully designed retro bikes that resemble their own ancestors from the 70's. Both great all around bikes, good looking, great sound, and awesome ride. I personally got the Speed Twin as I found its design and proportions flawless. The Z900 sits too tall and that huge gap between the rear wheel and the fender makes it look weird - or too modern, in my opinion. Same with the extra wide radiator... if it was not for those two things, Kawasaki would have hit the nail in the center.

well, nice review, but I'm a bit surprised that you found brakes to be bad.. I currently have 2023 H2 SX SE, I've put about 6kkm on it at this moment and those brakes are insanely good in my opinion.. with only one finger I can easily send rear wheel into the air yet they are still not sketchy and will not scare you with some insane first bite like some other bikes tend to.. but maybe someone just like that and it is that first strong bite, that you are missing.. also with this bike kawasaki finally managed to tune their ABS to not be as paranoid as in previous models like Z1000SX..

Also chose the XSR. Threw a GP Racer kit on and it looks like my old RZ350, with the spec of a modern sport bike. Coming from a T120 and RE GT650, I can appreciate Yamaha's design intent and that not every bike has to pretend to be a Bonneville to pay homage to the past. The numpties that say it's not a neo-retro will never understand that.

2024🎉 I think this design is very fantastic

I own one of these. Not the best bike I've owned but definitely the most underestimated by almost everyone. Does everything (solo anyway), no nonsense, frugal and extremely reliable, the 471 twin is legendary in that respect. Style-wise it's classic without being vintage (no chrome), utilitarian without being agricultural or fake Post-apocalyptic and accessible without feeling like a toy. It's a bike that doesn't want to impress nor cares if it does and if you have the same philosophy in riding you'll love it. There's only two minor flaws; Limited comfort (especially with the OEM saddle, can recommend the Mustang Solo Tripper), if you're over 1m75 (like me) you're gonna struggle with being cramped somewhat after a few hours and the white-on-black (negative) LCD dashboard can get hard to read in bright sunlight. It takes a REAL rebel to ride a 500cc (when did this become a beginner capacity anyway?) in a world of bikes twice or thrice the size and give the old "DILLIGAF" reply to any denigrating remarks. Besides, just keep in mind, while you're out riding year round, those "real bikes" are sitting in winter storage because the 'bad boy' dentist who owns it is really just a tourist in biker land. For taller riders the CL is probably the better choice.

I blame the braking issue due to stupid abs which is useless in any vehicle and should be removed . You should be able to turn abs off easily .
